The Dragonshards

Shards of crystal imbued with the essence of draconic magic, the Dragonshards are a set of minor artifacts crafted by dragon priests of Tiamat in ancient times. They serve as amplifiers of power and reservoirs of energy, and can be used to make several powerful items. Each item requires additional expenditures, given below.
Red Dragonshard
Talisman of Wrath
When set into a golden amulet and surrounded by focusing crystals, the Red Dragonshard empowers fire spells cast by the wearer. All spells of the Fire subtype are increased in effective caster level by +1, gain +1 to save DC, and +1 to spell penetration. In addition, the wearer gains an additional spell slot of each level from 1-5, which are usable only to cast spells of the Fire subtype.
Bracers of the Flame Lord
When split in two and set into a pair of golden bracers, the Red Dragonshard imparts upon its wearer the ability to create and command fire. The wearer gains ER 20 (fire), and can use the following powers at will:
- As an attack, throw a fireball inflicting 1d12+Cha fire damage as a touch attack with a 120 foot range.
- Set readily combustible materials on fire by touch.

All spell-like abilities have a caster level of 20.

Blue Dragonshard
Crown of the Mentalist
An array of blue dragonshard crystals set into a platinum tiara, this item confers great mental powers. Apart from granting a +4 competence bonus to Will saves, and making the wearer immune to thought detection, fear, charms, and alignment detection, it grants the following spell-like abilities 3 times per day:

All spell-like abilities have a caster level of 20 and DC of 24.

Scepter of Thunderbolts
When set into a platinum rod, a Blue Dragonshard can be used to channel sorcerous power. It acts as a runestaff, allowing an arcane spellcaster to channel the following spells by using her own spell slots.
- Lightning Bolt
- Maximized Lightning Bolt
- Shout
- Empowered Shout
- Chain Lightning
Also, it acts as a +4 shocking light mace, and imparts ER 20 (electricity) on the wielder. Finally, if the wielder takes a defensive stance or uses the total defense action, she is protected by a shield of electricity which inflicts 1d8+20 electrical damage on any creature who strikes her with a natural or metal weapon.

Green Dragonshard
Shaft of the Poisoner
This +4 ghost touch stiletto (1d4 piercing, 20/x3) can bring forth several poisons on command. Once used, each poison cannot be used again for 1d4+1 rounds.
- Heartstopper Venom: Subject dies. Secondary damage 2d6 Con.
- Memory Loss Toxin: Subject loses memory of previous 2d6 minutes, becoming confused for 1d4 rounds as a result. Secondary damage 2d6 Int.
- Bloodfreeze Poison: Subject becomes paralyzed for 1 minute; secondary damage 2d6 Dex.
All save DC's are 24.

Breath of the Dragon
When inserted into the flesh, the Green Dragonshard joins with bearer and imparts a special power. At will, the bearer can assume a gaseous form, with all the properties of a cloudkill spell.

Black Dragonshard
Gem of the Ever-burning Dead
A black dragonshard carved into a pair of onyx discs can be used to raise the dead. A spellcaster who is capable of casting Create Undead can use that spell at will, with these discs as the component. Furthermore, the discs serve as the focus for commanding the resultant undead, allowing the necromancer to command four times his level in hit dice of undead. Finally, all undead created using the discs inflict 1d6 corrosive damage with every strike.

Rod of Dissolution
This rod of cold iron, set with a black dragonshard in the shape of a skull, can be used as a +4 cold iron corrosive heavy mace. Three times per day, it can be used as the psionic power Dissipating Touch, inflicting 20d6 disintegration damage with no saving throw. Acid resistance applies against the damage dealt.

White Dragonshard
Torc of the Frost Wyrm
This belt of wood studded with White Dragonshard crystals can produce a suit of +5 frost ward full plate mail at will, as a called suit of armor. The wearer of the armor gains a +1 to spell DC's, caster level, and spell penetration for spells with the Cold descriptor.

Icen Shard
This +4 icy burst short sword grants the wielder the following powers, each once per day:
In addition, the wielder is immune to cold damage, and has the ability to walk on snow, ice, and even water as if it were firm, dry earth.

Multiple Dragonshards
Ring of the Dragonshards
This ring of truesilver, studded with crystals of Red, Blue, Green, Black, and White Dragonshards, confers the following powers:
- Blocks 200 points of energy damage of each type (fire, cold, electricity, acid) per day.
- Provides ER 30 to fire, cold, electricity, and acid (once the blocking effect is worn off).
- Immunity to poison
- Gain one additional arcane spell slot of up to your highest level per day; if a sorcerer, gain two. If not an arcane spellcaster, gain one 1st-level spell and 3 slots per day as a sorcerer.
- Gain the ability to rebuke and command evil dragons, as a cleric of your level +4 would rebuke or command undead. If you can already turn or rebuke dragons, gain +8 to your effective level.

Lesser Flail of the Dragon Queen
This three-headed flail (exotic weapon, one-handed, 3d4 bludgeoning, 20/x2) acts as a +5 flaming burst, shocking burst three-headed flail of wounding. Once per day, it allows the wielder to use a breath weapon: a 30' cone of fire, a 60' line of electricity, or a 20' radius, 10' high cylinder of poison gas within close range, inflicting 10d8 damage with a Reflex/Fortitude save for half, DC 22.
:Cost to create: 75,000 gp, 3,000 xp, one red, one blue, and one green dragonshard. Requisite: Craft Magic Arms and Armor.
Greater Flail of the Dragon Queen
This five-headed flail (exotic weapon, one-handed, 5d4 bludgeoning/piercing, requires Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Three-Headed Flail)) acts as a +6 flaming burst, shocking burst, corrosive burst, icy burst five-headed flail of great wounding (1d4 points of Con per strike). It allows its wielder to use any of the following breath weapons:
- 60' cone of fire
- 120' line of acid
- Chain Lightning on target within 60'
- 60' cone of cold
- 20' radius cloud of poison, 10' high
Each breath weapon inflicts 15d8 damage with a Reflex save, DC 28, for half, except the poison breath weapon, which inflicts 2d6 Con damage immediately and the same after one minute, each with a Fortitude save, DC 28, to negate.
